The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will promote - through code and interactions with others - high quality software patterns and practices that in turn result in reliable and maintainable applications and infrastructure. Furthermore, you will work with the team to plan and deliver data platform services that facilitate the rapid deployment of Business Intelligence and Data Science solutions. In fulfilling your responsibilities, you will learn from, and provide advice to, key stakeholders. Your advice will be based on your expertise on matters such as data formats, data lake design and big data technologies.


Skills & Experience  

  • An experienced Software Engineer with at least 3 years’ specialising in Data
  • Working knowledge of Go, Python or Scala
  • General Data Architecture knowledge such as Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and related technologies and concepts
  • Experience in, and an ability to express the comparative merits of SQL, NoSQL and Graph database systems
  • Solid experience in at least two RDBMS with MySQL and PostgreSQL being highly preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Apache Kafka
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling: Ansible and Terraform
  • Provisioning AWS services to support product deployment
  • Metrics, monitoring and alarms. Especially useful if you know Sumo Logic and PagerDuty.
  • AWS services related to data engineering
  • Docker and related container-orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes/AWS EKS)
